Starting from the western side of Kilimanjaro, the Lemosho Route begins in remote rainforest and gradually ascends through rolling moorlands and the vast Shira Plateau. Day 01 :

Arrival in Moshi

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport where our team greets you and transfers you to your lodge in Moshi. Relax, enjoy dinner, and attend a pre-climb briefing with your lead guide.

Day 02 :

Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,895 m)

Hike 3–4 hours through dense rainforest filled with colobus monkeys to reach Big Tree Camp. First night under canvas surrounded by nature.

Day 03 :

Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp (3,505 m)

Ascend into the moorland zone with panoramic views. Cross several streams before reaching Shira 1 Camp, with the mountain looming above. (5–6 hours)

Day 04 :

Shira 1 to Moir Hut (4,206 m)

Traverse the Shira Plateau and enjoy vast views of Kibo’s glaciers. Spot giant lobelias and groundsels before resting at Moir Hut Camp. (6–7 hours)

Day 05 :

Moir Hut to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower (4,630 m → 3,967 m)

Climb to Lava Tower for lunch, then descend to Barranco Camp for overnight. This “climb high, sleep low” strategy supports acclimatization. (6–9 hours)

Day 06 :

Barranco Wall to Karanga Camp (3,995 m)

Conquer the thrilling Barranco Wall, enjoy amazing summit views, and continue to Karanga Camp through alpine terrain. (4–5 hours)

Day 07 :

Karanga to Barafu Camp (4,600 m)

A short but steep climb to Barafu Camp, your base before summit night. Early dinner and rest for the big ascent. (3–4 hours)

Day 08 :

Summit Day: Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) → Mweka Camp (3,068 m)

Begin around midnight for the final push to Uhuru Peak, witnessing sunrise at the summit of Africa! Descend to Mweka Camp to rest. (12–14 hours total)

Day 09 :

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate (1,640 m)

Final descent through the rainforest. Celebrate your summit success with the team before returning to Moshi. (3 hours)

Day 10 :

Day 10 – Departure or Safari Extension

Relax at the lodge, enjoy a farewell breakfast, and transfer to the airport or continue your adventure on a Tanzania safari.
